Robber Gets Stuck in Exhaust Vent
.c The Associated Press

MIAMISBURG, Ohio (AP) - Police say a cook trying to break into a fast-food restaurant where
he worked overestimated the size of an exhaust vent in the kitchen - or underestimated his
own size.
Anthony Heath, 35, was pulled from the vent Tuesday after being stuck for about an hour. He
was in critical but stable condition and will face breaking and entering charges when he's
released, police officer Tony Beran said.
"When you looked down from the roof, he was 8 to 10 feet below," Beran said."He couldn't go
up or down."
Alan Veach, a manager at the Captain D's Seafood Restaurant, found Heath in the vent when he
arrived shortly before 7 a.m. "I heard somebody beating on something and calling my name,"
Veach said.
Heath had worked at the restaurant less than a month.
"It was a ridiculous thing to do," Veach said. "All cash funds are taken out of our stores.''
Heath was stuck in a vent over a deep fryer. If he had lost consciousness and had gone
undetected, Veach said, someone might have turned on the heat and "in 30 minutes he would
have been toast."

Miamisburg Company Wins 6.8 Million Social Security Contract
WASHINGTON---Sometime after October 1, you will probably get a letter from the Social Security Administration that was printed in Miamisburg. That's because the Social Security Administration just awarded a 6.8 million contract to a Miamisburg company to print between 120 and 140 million letters to American workers providing detailed information about their wage history and contributions to the Social Security program.

The announcement was made by Rep. Tony P. Hall (D-Ohio). The work will be performed by Commercial Data Center, Inc. (CDCI) of 540 Richard St., Miamisburg.

"The information will help workers better plan for their retirement because it will give them an idea of the Social Security payments they can expect to receive," Hall explained.

"Also, this will give workers an opportunity to check their Social Security earnings records and to correct any mistakes," Hall added.

Congress passed a law in 1989 requiring that the Social Security Administration send an account statement to everyone over the age of 25 who contributed to the Social Security program. The target date for the year-long project was set to begin October 1, 1999.

"This is an enormous undertaking for the Social Security Administration and for the Commercial Data Center. The company has already done considerable work for the Social Security Administration and has established a good track record," Hall said.

The letters will be mailed from CDCI's Miamisburg plant. Most will be trucked directly to the Dayton International Airport, where they will be flown to their destinations around the country.

"Dayton's excellent airport and our central location contributed to winning this contract for the area," Hall said.

Under the 1989 law, the personal earnings and benefit statements must show an individual's earnings, an estimate of his contributions to the Social Security program, and an estimate of his future benefits at retirement and a description of Medicare benefits.
